Volkswagen plans to terminate its autonomous-driving cooperation with auto supplier Bosch as part of broader cost-cutting and competitiveness efforts, according to 36Kr. A joint statement from Bosch and VW software unit Cariad said they do not comment on market rumors. The report, citing internal sources, said the project failed to meet expectations after around €1.5 billion ($1.71 billion) in investment, and an internal assessment found the technology is currently not competitive. The cooperation is expected to end under the contract’s terms, and Volkswagen plans to source the relevant hardware and software from a new partner, with a contract targeted to be signed before September.
