Oklo NYSE:OKLO shares rose about 4% and X-Energy (XE) gained roughly 3% on Wednesday after a report said the advanced nuclear developers are participating in a $200 million Trump administration-backed program designed to speed deployment of nuclear power for AI data centers.
Oklo and X-Energy are expected to work alongside Microsoft NASDAQ:MSFT and Nvidia NASDAQ:NVDA under the initiative, which is intended to streamline the design, licensing and construction of advanced nuclear reactors while lowering development and operating costs.
The program comes as electricity demand from artificial intelligence infrastructure continues to increase, driving interest in next-generation nuclear technologies capable of supplying reliable, carbon-free power to large-scale data centers.
Oklo and X-Energy could benefit if the effort reduces regulatory timelines and accelerates commercial deployment of advanced reactors. The reported initiative reflects broader efforts by the U.S. government and technology companies to expand electricity generation as AI computing requirements continue to grow, with nuclear energy increasingly viewed as a potential long-term power source for data center expansion.
