The German government plans to purchase four Meko A-200 warships from Thyssenkrupp's marine unit XETR:TKA TKMS for around €6.63 billion, according to a draft finance ministry document seen by Reuters on Thursday.

The deal also includes an option for up to four more for around €5.3 billion, says the ministry document, which is to be presented to the parliamentary budget committee.

This follows Germany's decision to scrap a landmark frigate programme with Rheinmetall XETR:RHM following delays and expected cost overruns, sending the defence company's shares downward.
